Buy the original replacement part from Volvo. Aftermarket impellers does not always come with gasket nor glycerine.
Notes on how to do it

Stop water intake

Unscrew lid, dismount it

Notice the rotation of the impeller, it goes clockwise.
-
Wipe and clean the gasket connection points (grind down any bumps or dirt).
-
Mount it, make sure to bend the blades on the impeller the correct way.

Oil Filter / Oil Change - Engine

Suction device to suck out oil from drainage pipe. Use a hose that fits AROUND the drainage pipe and start sucking.
Buy the original replacement part from Volvo. Aftermarket filters are sometimes larger in diameter, and you have about 2mm to spare. Not worth the risk.
Notes on how to do it

Pull off cap on drainpipe

Put on hose

Start sucking, should be about 4L and with a manual suctionpump it takes about 20 minutes to completely dry the sump.

Paper underneath and plastic over the oil filter, unscrew it

New filter on with oil on the gasket and filled up. Follow instructions on filter.

This does not take into consideration the changing of thermostat or other heat exchanger related parts.

Should preferably be done on a warm engine.
Start unscrewing the lowest drain nipple. Connect hose when water starts flowing.
​
After complete drain, remove expansion tank to get easy access to water pump and remove the 2 drain nipples, one on the heat exchanger and one on the engine block. Check their health, are they intact ? Are they crispy ? Consider changing them.
Consider breaking off the last part (5-6mm) of a drain nipple to get a bigger opening and use this as a "clean and drain" nipple.

Remove hose from water pump and heat exchanger.
Direct hose from heat exchanger so water does not spill over important stuff, like the dynamo. Consider covering the electrical parts with some plastic.

Plug seethrough hose into or onto depending on size the water pump and the custom big boi drain nipple on the heat exchanger and into or press onto the bottom drain.
​
Start flowing water into the heat exchanger large hole. Flush until water coming out is clean.
Connect the big hose to the heat exchanger and start pumping in water in another direction. Proceed through all openings, back and forth etc until the engine is considered completely flushed and clean.
​
Connect and close everything except the big hose. Fill into the hose with water until the expansion tank is somewhat half full and/or water starts coming out the heat exchanger. Connect quickly to avoid spillage. Top up with coolant.
​
Test run.

2/3 of a 1,5L soda bottle, cut off the top

Notes on how to do it

Turn off diesel valve on tank
-
Put bottle under pre-filter
-
Open first with pliers then by hand and let run dry
-
Unscrew top bolt (11mm) and pull prefilter glass down, the metal filter usually stays up there.

Start cleaning thouroughly, also inside the mini metal filter.
-
Mount it again.
-
Plastic bag around filter on engine, paper underneath and unscrew it
-
New filter, Oil on gasket and mount it.
-
Open diesel valve on tank
-
Start pumping. First prefilter gets filled, then you can hear the filter on the engine getting filled. When the pump gets alot harder, it's full.
-
Usually takes a little longer to start now.
